Wedding of Kim and Sean, Montego Bay Jamaica

On the beach, Montego Bay

I first did an engagement shoot with Kim and Sean back in July 2011, and the blog post for that event can be found here

Today I bring you pictures from the wedding, close to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Where as the above engagement shoot was done using a Contax 645 Medium format film camera, the wedding was captured with mostly digital media via my Nikon D700, and D7000 cameras. Whilst this made things a little easier in creating quantity, in future I’d really like to shoot a wedding with film only as I tend to prefer the results. I just need a couple who are into the film aesthetic…

On to the pictures!

Fortunately for me the location of the wedding was at the large 5 star resort – Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton which was beautiful… meaning that in the interests of efficiency I needed to stay there too… Ha ha! Unfortunately, in the name of inefficiency (for me), the Bride and Groom decided to get dressed for their special day on opposite sides of the resort… I did mention it was a LARGE resort didn’t I? :-) This meant I needed to do a fair amount of hiking back and forth between accommodations in order to catch both Kim and Sean preparing for their day. Weighed down with two camera bodies and multiple lenses, and power walking in the 28 degree Celsius heat was, shall we say, a good workout.  I’m not complaining though, as I really love to capture this part of the day for a couple, and I’ll do what ever it takes.

As I started shooting Kim first, I’ll continue with pictures of her…

Helping hands

Almost ready

The guys on the other side of the resort seemed to be operating at a slightly slower pace…

... as Sean reveals more of his domestic skills

Eventually, the guys were good to go so we took some shots next to the ocean…

Maybe a little too close to the Ocean?

Old friends

After another power walk across the resort I found Kim practically ready to leave.

The wedding took place at the beautiful resort spa to avoid the heavy afternoon sun.

Vows and rings exchanged.

Sealed with a kiss

Instamatic! Not all the shots I took were digital...

Then off to take some group photos. Here are a couple with Kim’s fabulous parents

Then some classic bridal shots before heading to the beach

All in all I truly enjoyed shooting this wedding and it was a great privilege to be selected as Kim and Sean’s photographer for the event. Wishing them both many happy years together!

Thanks must also go to my trusted assistant Helen, for being there when it really mattered…
